Who I Am and What We’re Building
Hi, I’m Manfred Schaefer, and I’m glad you’re here.
I want to tell you who I am, why I built this site, and what you can expect from it.
A little about me
I started out as a cook in the U.S. Navy and trained as a chef’s assistant. If you’ve ever worked in a kitchen, you know the rule: you don’t get to say “I’ll figure it out later.” Orders come in, the line moves, and you get it done.
That mindset never left me. Today I run several small businesses, including a candle business and a t-shirt printing business. I run five blogs. I’m a woodworker with a CNC and a laser cutter in my shop. I’ve also built a few small software tools of my own, like a canine nutrition checker and calculators for woodworkers and candle makers.
I’m not a Silicon Valley person. I don’t love business jargon, and I’ve never had patience for guides that take 40 pages to say what could be said in 4. I like plain language, clear steps, and results.
Now, I am addicted to AI and what it can do for me personally and for my many businesses. That passion for AI and my yearning for education is helping me build my publication business.
Why Get It Done Books exists
Most of us don’t have a knowledge problem. We have a “where do I even start?” problem.
You want to write your Etsy listings, test a side hustle, or finally learn to use AI without wasting a weekend. You search online and get 20 tabs of conflicting advice. Nothing gets done.
So I started writing short books that solve one problem each.
What you get from every book
- One topic, one result. Each book is built around a single outcome, so you always know what you’ll walk away with.
- Step-by-step instructions. Follow along in order. No guessing.
- Ready-to-copy AI prompts. Paste them into the AI tool you already use, then follow my advice on checking and improving what it gives you.
- Worked examples. You see the finished result, not just the theory.
- A bonus pack with every purchase. Printable checklists and templates you can use right away.
What’s on the shelf now
The first books focus on using AI for practical work:
- Write 10 Etsy Listings in One Day with AI
- A Claude prompt guide built on a simple five-part formula
- A side hustle idea test guide, so you can check an idea with market research, competitor analysis and pricing before you spend money
More are on the way. I’m planning guides on everyday AI tasks, running a small business, blogging, organizing and scheduling, travel, and caring for your dog.
Who these books are for
Small business owners, creators, side-hustlers, retirees, career changers, and anyone who is new to AI or somewhere in the middle. If you want less theory and more finished work, you’re in the right place.
What I promise
I’ll keep the books short, the language plain, and the steps honest. These are independent guides, not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic or any other AI company, and I’ll always tell you what a tool can and can’t do.
Start here
Browse the shop, pick the book that matches the problem you have today, and put it to work. If you have an idea for a topic you’d like to see covered, use the contact form and tell me what you’re stuck on. Your question might become the next book.
Let’s get it done.
